Registrar

A registrar is a provider accredited by a registry, through which end users register, renew and transfer domains. It is the interface between customer and registry.

How it differs: not to be confused with the registry, which administers the TLD centrally.

Example: you register "example.de" with a registrar; the domain is entered at DENIC.
