First come, first served

First come, first served (FCFS) means the domain goes to whoever places a valid claim/order first — without an auction or bidding process.

How it differs: the opposite model to an auction, where the highest bidder wins.

Example: with ReCatch the first valid purchase gets the domain; there is no bidding.
